SCUPLTURE
THE QUILL
Maria Edgeworth Centre, Edgeworthstown
A two-part memorial installation representing the writing of Maria Edgeworth in memory of the victimes of An Gorta Mór, the Great Famine. Part one included the engraved base in situ on the occasion of the National Famine Commemoration 2024 unveiled by An Taoiseach, Simon Harris. Part two involved the removal of the base and incorporation of a quill feather, the base embodying an ink bottle to the quill. Once expertly formed, the galvanised steel feather received a chemical patina to produce a blackening finish and was discretely fixed to ‘sit’ in the inscribed ink bottle base.
Completed in 2026.
THE LEAF
Private Arboretum, Co. Mayo
This monumental 8 metre leaf sculpture began its journey in Fabworx workshop offered as a vision in the form of a hand-sketched design. The sketch was masterfully transformed into precision laser cut designed by Liam and his Team meticulously engineering and assembling each component while ensuring exceptional structural integrity and artistic detail. From the very first consultation, safe handling, transport and installation were central to the project’s planning. Every stage was calculated to achieve flawless placement and faithful realisation of the vision and aspiration for its erection on a private arboretum in the West of Ireland. The result is a striking fisuon of craftsmanship, engineering and landsacpe art – an enduring testament to what Corten steel can achieve in sculptural and architectural form. We call it Engineering Creativity.
